Who we are

K.Candles is a small, hand-poured soy candle business based in Cape Town, South Africa. We are the data controller for any personal information collected through this website or in the course of fulfilling your order.

What we collect

• Order details you give us on WhatsApp: your name, delivery address, phone number, and the products you'd like to buy.
• Analytics data via Google Analytics 4: browser type, device, pages viewed, approximate location, and session activity. Collected through cookies.
• Meta Pixel events: page views and WhatsApp button clicks, used for advertising measurement and attribution on Facebook and Instagram.
• Server logs: standard request data (IP address, timestamp, user agent) handled by Cloudflare. We do not maintain a separate database of visitor logs.

How we use it

• Fulfilling your order and arranging delivery.
• Communicating with you about your order, including payment, dispatch, and any issues that arise.
• Improving the website by understanding which pages and products people engage with.
• Measuring the performance of our advertising on Meta platforms.

Who we share with

• Google — Google Analytics 4, for site usage measurement.
• Meta (Facebook) — via the Meta Pixel, for advertising attribution and measurement on Facebook and Instagram.
• Pargo — our delivery courier. We share only the recipient name and delivery address required for them to deliver your parcel.
• Cloudflare — our hosting and CDN provider, which processes site requests on our behalf.
• Payment processors — if and when we use one, they will handle payment information directly. We do not store card details.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your rights under POPIA

Under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or out-of-date information.
• Request deletion of your personal information, subject to any legal retention obligations.
• Withdraw consent for processing where we rely on your consent (for example, for analytics or advertising cookies).
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
